A few words about the tour

A few words about the tour

Food can tell many stories… cultural, social, economic, and sometimes also emotional and spiritual.

Our tour invites you to take an in-depth look at the relationship between food and the people, through an experiential encounter with the typical street food and traditional quisine of the Sacred Valley of Peru.

The tour begins with a morning of tasting in the charming market area of the town of Urubamba. We will then take a tour to the magical Inca town of Ollantaytambo. Then we drive up the breathtaking mountains of the Andes to visit an indigenous Peruvian family and enjoy a traditional festive lunch. In the evening we will return to Urubamba, to finish the day with a local dessert.

So come with me and dive into an exciting, authentic and delicious experience. Let’s go get something to eat!

So this is me, getting my hair done...

I’m Liat. Life led me to this place a couple of years ago.

There is nothing that fills my heart more than to connect people to the beauty, simplicity and grace of the people that live here and their traditions.
Thats why I’ve been guiding this tour, with a lot of love and satisfaction, for two years now.

Other than that there is not much to tell… a husband, two kids, five cats… the usual 🙂

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the tour take place and how long is it?

We meet in Urubamba at 9:00 am, the tour ends at the same location at about 19:00.

Does the tour include a lot of walking?

The tour does not include much walking. The walk is easy and mostly in an urban environment. The tour includes transportation that brings us to the places of visit.

Where is Urubamba and how do I get there?

Urubamba is the main town in the Sacred Valley, about an hour drive from Cusco. Urubamba can be easily reached from Cusco or other towns in the valley using cheap and efficient public transportation.

You can take a “Colectivo”, which is a kind of public minivan, or private vehicles that make shuttles and all leave from the same station. The price for the trip from Cusco is between 7-10 S/. All you have to do is get to the station wherever you are in the valley. Just ask where the “Paradero De Urubamba” is. We pick you up from the station in Urubamba, and return you to the same location at the end of the tour. We will be happy to assist and direct you to the nearest public transportation station.

Another way to get here is through a private shuttle that we organize. I can usually arrange a private transfer from Cusco at a price of 100 S/. It is also possible to return to Cusco with the same shuttle at a price of 180 S/. The transportation prices, as mentioned above, are divided between the number of passengers.

Of course, you can also arrive by taxi, for smaller groups. The price for a trip from Cusco is about 80-100 S/.

In any case, we will send you the exact location of the pickup place on Google Maps. dont worry, its easy.

What about vegetarians, vegans and lactose or gluten sensitive?

The selection of foods on the tour is large. Naturally, vegetarians, vegans or those who are sensitive to lactose or gluten will not be able to eat everything, but they certainly wont stay hungry.
People with allergies and special sensitivities are advised to consult me before registering.

What to bring? How to dress up?

The weather in Peru is usually sunny and warm in the mornings and afternoons. However, in the evening, and when you go up high into the mountains, it can be cool. Also, in the rainy season there may be occasional rains, which cannot be predicted. Therefore, we recommend bringing several layers of clothing that you can put on and take off as needed.

I also recommend coming with closed and comfortable shoes suitable for walking. The tour does not include strenuous walking, but the mountains can be a bit muddy sometimes after the rain, and I wouldn’t want you to get those Italian high heel shoes dirty…

The tour is accompanied by an attached vehicle, so you can definitely bring handbags or backpacks that can stay in the vehicle.

How much does the tour cost and how do you pay?

The price varies according to the size of the group, because a significant part of the tour costs are fixed. Below is the price table by group size:
2-3 participants: $170 per person.
4-7 participants: $130 per person.
8-12 participants: $95 per person.
13-15 participants: $75 per person.
Payment can be made by credit card, or in cash at the end of the tour.
